Happy commercialized holiday where we celebrate sweet poems, hitting on someone else's wife and getting your head chopped of!

Can't you feel the love?

1) Post with your character, name and canon in the subject line
2) Reply to other people, don't be a stingy ass, it's a holiday for giving!
3)?????
4) Profit

Some ideas for you indecisive types to RNG;

1) Chocolates: You couldn't think of anything more awesome, so you went out and bought your lover some candy. Hopefully they like chocolate. You made sure to check before hand, right? Hope so.

2) Poetry: Some say there's nothing more romantic than a sweet little poem expressing all those feelings! Unless you're shit at writing in which case you might want to stick to...

3) Greeting Card: You are the lowest of the low. You ran to Walgreens ten minutes before you showed up at your lovers house and picked out the first card that looked good. Or maybe you just suck at Valentines day? Either way, hope you brought something good with it.

4) Sex: You're either cheap or good in bed, but you've decided for valentines day you're going to give your significant other the gift of you

5) Wild Card: Make something up.

[ The color of the man's uniform hits Erik, though part of him is hardwired enough to bring the man to his superiors, occupied as the city is right now. His hand on the Charles' arm only tightens in response to his realization, but other that that, Erik does next to nothing to indicate awareness. ] Unfortunately, you're already in my way. [ He continues in French, though his tone indicates Erik isn't about to arrest or kill the man.

Perhaps Charles is younger than he looks, he can't tell, but the man isn't the same battle worn soldiers he's used to fighting against, adults who know what they're getting into, and the conflicts they have no choice but to face in order to save their families back home. Erik's seen enough of death, but he copes well enough, or at least enough not to become a shell of the man he once was like his father, who died on the borders of Poland, or his former company, reduced to incomprehensible men who fell apart at the sight of one of their compatriots ripped apart in half.

No, Erik copes well enough to function, eliciting a teasing smile at the man. ]
I didn't realize the British were running out of soldiers to draft children, were they? [ Though they're both speaking near perfect French, it's Charles' accent that gives way to fact that he's not French himself. ]

[ It's a precarious position to be in, so close to the enemy with nary a troop to assist either-- though he doubts this man, this Axis soldier, needs much assistance currently. Shifting his weight he balances himself better so he's not leaning into the other soldier. Gaze flickering for a moment to his cap, the familiar and frightening pin there before back to his face. Charles purses his lips a bit, thinning them out into a red line instead of the usual curved bow, ] I'm not a child. [ He may be nervous, perhaps even frightened, but he wasn't simply going to allow himself to be mocked either. Dominate right hand reaching up he slowly moves to curl his fingers about the officers wrist, the friction of leather against skin almost surreal. ] I'm as much a man as you are. [ He feels a book thump lightly against his book but doesn't dare a glance down-- worried that breaking eye contact could be the incentive for attack. ]

Hmm. [ Erik's put off by the determination to take charge in this situation as Charles brings his hand up to his wrist. Most men, soldiers or not, aren't inclined to stand up to him, the insignia scattered across his uniform a blatant means of scaring one away. ] I'm sure you are, to be so frightened of the Schutzstaffel, aren't you? [ His tone is lighthearted, teasing almost that the British man in front of him was so easily provoked. Carefully sliding the books back against the shelves, Erik reaches for the man's right hand, tugging it off his own with a firm grip. His smirk only widens at the ease in which he's nervous enough of an indication for Erik to prey on him. ]

Were you hiding from my brothers outside? Shall I call them for you?

[ He doesn't take kindly to the mocking, but has no appropriate response. He was frightened of them, but he could think of no man in his right mind that would not feel the same. Confessing his fear, however, didn't seem like the thing to do-- he wouldn't give this man the satisfaction. His hand pried off, pale fingers flexing once or twice as he gauges his situation. ]

Feel free to call them, [ He knows he sounds a little breathy, but the panic tightening in his chest is doing him no favors. ] I imagine you'd probably need help, not used to handling these sorts of things on your own. Hm? [ It's a challenge to his pride, obviously, and Charles is trying to think of the quickest way to keep this man from calling his fellow soldiers. ] I know I must be a bit much for you to handle.

[ As a challenge to Erik's pride, it works. Though Charles pulls his hand away, Erik still retracts his after the man's words, running one hand over the other, gently rubbing at the leather as he tugs off the glove, flexing his fingers easily. ] I've been taught not to underestimate my enemy, foolish as they can be from time to time. [ He says lightly, though Erik isn't going to attack the other man any time soon, when they're both in a bookstore and nowhere to run. There's a possibility the other man can and will run faster than him, when Charles is closer to the door than Erik, but he won't try anything just yet. ]

I dare say you've learned your manners.

My mother did always fancy polite behavior. [ The answer reaks of a bit of sarcasm, no matter how true it was-- or perhaps tit was just his distaste for her as it was his distaste for the soldier in turn. He gives the slightest step back, body brushing the other shelf and allowing him to gauge the distance to the door. It wouldn't be smart to throw himself out into the other soldiers, but if he had to risk it he would. Perhaps there was another back door? He wasn't sure. Cautiously he took a step to the side, mocking as if he wanted to look at the books on the other side of the Axis soldier; mostly trying to gauge his reaction while not closing the distance any. ]

Polite enough to know when I'm unwanted, anyhow.

Hardly unwanted. [ Erik swiftly takes a step to the side, blocking off the door should the other man try to take an escape, leaving only the back door, which he knew already had enough of his men standing there at rest, bored out of a lack of fight in them. Not that Erik minded, the activity in the book store enough of an entertainment for the past two weeks, when he had been busy drinking to keep himself busy. ] Just a tad annoying. [ It's a teasing comment, but it should be clear enough to the other man that neither of them are going to fight it out for their respective countries this time around. ]

What are you doing in occupied country, anyway?

[personal profile] draftedpacifist 2012-03-06 09:32 pm (UTC)(link)
[ A snap of tension is barely hidden under his uniform as the other soldier steps to the side, invading his path and potential escape route. He does his best to continue acting unfettered, plucking a random book from amongst the dozens on the shelves, biting his tongue to keep any ill thought out comments at bay, ] I hadn't been aware it was occupied. [ As of his last notice it hadn't been, else he would have never slipped inside the city. He may have been a bit naive at times or brash, but never that foolish. ]

I assure you I'd no intentions of ambling around occupied land.
beyondcommand: (pic#2427424)

[personal profile] beyondcommand 2012-03-14 12:45 am (UTC)(link)
[ Considering the city had been occupied for the last several months, it's almost laughable to think that Charles wasn't naive in the slightest. Lips curling into a smile, Erik's grin only widens at the thought of capturing a near innocent prey, despite his attempts at feigning disinterest. ] Are you blind, Brit? [ Scoffing, Erik shakes his head, reaching forward to tear the book out of his grip, taunting him easily. Flipping the book over, he glances at the cover, lifting his eyes from it only to see the soldier's reaction and behave accordingly. This is the first time in a while where Erik's near permanent boredom has been sated, and it's the product of another soldier -- for the opposing side. Running through the pages, he bends the book just slightly, the pages riffling with a small breeze, cooling enough even in the fair weather. ]

Or perhaps just stupid. [ He had to be, which could be the only explanation why anyone would want to wander into German occupied territory and not anticipate death by a firing squad. ] Stupid enough to fall in love, hmm? [ Waving the book, a romance novel, he holds it right in the face of the other man. ]

Not blind, if you hadn't noticed there's a wall around the city. [ Last he had come in everything had been amicable enough, he hadn't encountered any foreign soldiers or things of that ilk. This time around, however, he seemed to be on the sour end of fortune. His fingers curl reflexively in annoyance, lips pursing into a thin line but he resists the urge to try and snatch it back-- that could only end unpleasantly. ] Don't bend the book you oaf. [ He snaps a bit, eyes fixated on the page and arms crossed if only to keep his hands from doing things he shouldn't. ]

I shan't act surprised that you would find love stupid, it seems quite innate to what you are. [ He pulls his arms righter, turning his face away from the intruding book but nervously keeping his eyes fixated on the German. ] Regardless it isn't for me.

[ Charles’ words read as a threat, though not in a physical sense, because even Erik knows there’s no competition between the two of them. Even if Charles had attempted something, Erik has the full weight of his troops behind him, and on his own, a handful of strength and perseverance that he’s fairly confident is lacking in the other soldier. What Charles’ words read to him as however, are a more personal threat, indicating that Erik is far from intelligent as he seems. He shouldn’t be surprised; it’s a common attempt at the Germans because who would believe that the army sent to eradicate the world were capable of rubbing two brain cells together. ]

It’s not your book to begin with. [ Erik ignores the quip about his intelligence, the words harmlessly flung against him, though he still returns the book to the self, but not without bending it lightly to watch the other man’s reaction.

Smirking, he leans against the shelves, adjusting the rifle slung over his shoulder before folding his arms across his chest. ]
Besides, what makes you so certain I’m incapable of love? Love for a country, a family, even my son and daughter. I dare say it’s more than you’ve allowed yourself.

[personal profile] draftedpacifist 2012-04-04 12:27 am (UTC)(link)
[ His lips thinned out in an angry sort of stare, knowing the soldier was bending the book simply to irritate him. He shouldn't be surprised, he knows that much, but it still manages to raise his ire. The simple disrespect he seems keen on showing at every turn is edging under his skin. ] It's not yours either, if you had any sort of respect you might realize you shouldn't break other peoples things. [ Most people wont buy a bent book, and while it was just one, it was still money lost in a hard times-- especially considering the fact that the people I this town had done nothing but simply try and live their lives. ]

I say you haven't allowed me that, you and all of this, it's not exactly the time to raise a family nor start one. [ Regardless of if that was his intention in the first place, Charles had no desire to admit these things to some irritating soldier who seemed keen on being insufferable. ] A man who would so eagerly take love from others seems hardly like the kind of person who would have any real knowledge of the emotion.
beyondcommand: (pic#2427410)

[personal profile] beyondcommand 2012-04-19 06:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Or perhaps that's exactly why I'm better suited than you. [ He says, shrugging, taking the moment to slip the gloves into a pocket, flexing his fingers lightly. Erik doesn't quite care for the topic at hand, when romantic notions were never his cup of tea in the first place; his family earned the minimal attention from him before he was coerced into fighting for a cause he didn't believe in, and the longing of missing one you had limited time to become acquainted with was something Erik hadn't felt just yet. Book and childish actions momentarily forgotten, Erik's attention is on their petty argument, and a quick glance around has Erik well aware they should be taking it outside, if the store manager's glare was any indication. ]

You hide behind the war as the reason why you choose to be without love. No doubt you're the kind of indecisive man, forced to enlist instead of choosing what you'd like.

Yes, well, there's not much I can do about the draft. [ His lips curl downward in irritation. ] I'm not going to abandon my home and everything else trying to flee from it either. Perhaps you're more comfortable in cowardice than I am. [ It's a jab, not one he's even sure is true, but the commentary has gotten personal and he's not keen to let it go any farther down that path. ] Your hardly a good judge of character. [ And he makes a pointed look at his uniform, not at all hiding his opinion of it and the man wearing it. ]

Perhaps you ought to go back to the others now, I've heard too much time alone weakens the brain-washing.
beyondcommand: (pic#2427411)

[personal profile] beyondcommand 2012-04-28 06:03 am (UTC)(link)
Cowardice for joining a cause you believe in? [ A mere lie, but Charles hits home, calling Erik a coward of all insults around. He believed, however indirectly, in the fight the Germans were in favor for, a strict adherence to rules in place that the British weren't inclined to follow up on. ] I may not be the best judge of character, but your penchant for oblivious statements are showing.

[ To go back to the others now would mean Charles had won, and Erik was above that, if anything. He had no intention of giving that up just yet, settling against the shelves, eyes narrowed in the other man's direction. While he wouldn't risk a fight, he certainly wouldn't allow the other to get off scot free. ] You ought to watch your mouth.
draftedpacifist: (36)

[personal profile] draftedpacifist 2012-05-05 07:19 am (UTC)(link)
Believing in such a cause only proves you a coward. Only a man with little in his heart could blame entire groups of people for their own failures. [ And it's a bit vicious on his part, words he doesn't usually care to say because he likes to avoid conflict. He's a pacifist at heart, but this man has pushed and pushed and Charles wants to believe that while he may want peace that he is not a coward. ]

Watch my mouth? Or what? You'll call for help? Why doesn't surprise me.
beyondcommand: (pic#2427410)

[personal profile] beyondcommand 2012-05-05 09:08 am (UTC)(link)
Because they've proven themselves worthy of such vengeance, [ Erik retorts, nearly spitting out the words in anger. He doesn't care much for the cause, but Charles' ignorance is near evident, overwhelming to the point where if he could truly bring himself to argue for German superiority, Erik would have by now. ] unlike cowards who beg for assistance across the seas and cower when the Americans don't reply.

You couldn't take me on if you tried.

[personal profile] draftedpacifist 2012-05-06 11:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Or so you like to make yourself believe, tell me-- how do you sleep at night? [ He straightened up, and while he was still considerably shorter he refused to cower in the face of a man who offered him snide words. ] Why don't you go back to your keepers and leave me be? If you continue to stay here you'll prove nothing other than how ignorant you can really be. You're embarrassing yourself.
beyondcommand: (pic#2427411)

[personal profile] beyondcommand 2012-05-11 05:24 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Naive, Erik thinks, to see someone standing up to him when he's foolish enough to do in territory that would easily further the war. Charles may have a point, that calling for help, or calling for anyone right now would mean he can't handle the situation, but it doesn't mean he needs to. ]

The better question is - how do you sleep at night? Do you know what it's like, to fight for your country, watch your brothers dying next to you; the smell of gunpowder constantly pervading the air, the mess of limbs as they're ripped from the man you're protecting, blood and guts spilled along your border, all because someone disagrees with your idea of a perfect society. [ Standing up as well, Erik focuses solely on Charles' eyes, refusing to give way. ] If you even begin to sleep well at night, then you're just a boy in a uniform, pretending to save the world and ignorant to the real horrors out there. [ Because Erik didn't sleep, and he wasn't about to deny that for the sake of some petty argument with a man who couldn't keep his mouth shut. ]

No. It's you embarrassing yourself. Thinking you can take on a trained soldier with your idealistic beliefs.

And I could say the same-- the death and dying, cruelty, all of that suffered because you idiots think your better than someone else. How disgustingly arrogant. You ought to be ashamed of yourself, it's pathetic-- men so desperate for any grasp they can get above the rest-- blaming the world for their own problems. [ He can feel the thudding of his heart, rumbling against the cage that was his ribs. He's not scared, not right now, he's too busy being angry.

I don't call myself a soldier-- but I'd rather be what I am any day than a cruel, pathetic man.
beyondcommand: (pic#2427516)

[personal profile] beyondcommand 2012-05-22 06:47 am (UTC)(link)
Resorting to insults because you're on the losing side of an argument? [ Erik sneers, shaking his head. ] Small wonder your army is pathetic enough to give up its hard earned land.

[ Straightening up, Erik brushes down the front of his suit, cracking his neck, eyes focused on Charles' own. This wasn't a fight he wanted to have, it wasn't one he cared for in the first place, when his sole purpose was to simply fight for a cause he believed in, where the ends justified all the means over everything else. ]

Are you done yet with your sermons?
draftedpacifist: (87)

[personal profile] draftedpacifist 2012-06-24 04:06 am (UTC)(link)
And you resort to cruelty when you're on the losing side of the war. [ And he believes that, has to believe that, because if they don't in he doesn't know what to expect for his home and country-- refuses to believe it will end any other way. His fingers bunch at his sides, a sort of restrain he's not had to force himself to have before. Charles isn't the fighting sort, never has been, but this man manages to get under his skin so dangerously. ]

Have you no sense of morality? [ He finally snips in response, his shoulders strung with tension, tight like a bow, angry and heated. ]
