 Charles

[ That... hadn't been the reaction he had expected. The flush was something different all together and the hiding in his hands, and for a moment Charles can only watch. Head cocked to the side and a breath passed his lips, caught between confused and anxious. He glances to the door, noting the empty hall before turning his focus back to Alex. ] I didn't mean to embarrass you. [ A pause, his lips pursed as he tries to find the right words-- but this isn't something he's entirely familiar with. ] I'm not mad at you, though, I hope you know that Alex. 

[ He reaches up with his right hand, fingers pressing into his forehead before dragging through his hair, combing along his scalp slowly. Once he removes his fingers from his hair they flop back into place. Handling youths, especially like Alex, was tasking-- he figured the young man to be more sensitive than he cared to let on. They all were, it was part of knowing you're so different. This, however, was something different entirely. ] I-- yes, well...

[ A pause, ] We'll have to talk about it, eventually, now or later-- it's not something I can just ignore, but I'm not going to pressure you either. I'm just.... surprised.

Alex:

I know. [ Charles is too good to be mad at him. Hell, he probably could have woken up to Alex crawling into bed with him and Charles would just blink and him and try to understand and apologize for something or other. Alex pauses. Swallows. Sigh. Runs a hand through his hair and looks to the side - stalling. He laces his fingers together with elbows rested on his knees and occupies himself with idly picking at his nails. Anything but look at Charles. ]

It was just a dumb... thing. [ A pause and another deep breath. Man, these tiles are interesting. ] Just forget about it. Don't know what I was thinking.

[ He's quiet for a moment, but takes into account Alex's reaction to his dismissal of the situation as a simple crush. He supposes, in a way, having anyone dismis your feelings could be painful. He was well aware of how painful it could be, now. Sinking back into the pillows a bit more he seems content to watch the teen for several minutes, trying to form the words he didn't have. ] It's nod dumb, Alex. [ He fusses with the edge of his blanket, wishing that he could slide forward and grab his hand, do something, anything, other than be pinned against the bed. ] You can't help how you feel about someone, but it's never dumb. We feel what we feel for a reason, sometimes it's for better reasons than others, but there's no judgement.

I know how it is to feel something for someone you wish you didn't. Don't get upset with yourself, please.
